ALL SUBJECTS: This unit is for use with upper elementary to high school students. Using the guidelines on the boards, students write and formulate sentences in response to questions presented by teachers in all subjects. A history teacher from Texas reports that he requires students to answer his history questions with complete sentences in proper form. He says the English department loves him! He goes on to say that more importantly all the students participate when they use the boards.
MATH SKILLS: When turned sideways the guidelines form columns for lining up math problems according to place value. One side features whole numbers from ones to trillions,. WOW! The other side has decimal fractions to millionths.
LANGUAGES: A bilingual teacher says they use the boards to introduce many words each week; they draw illustrations such as a window, then write the Spanish and English words ventana and window.
UNLINED SIDE: Responses are unlimited on the wide open white surface: maps, illustrations, problem solving or whatever!
